YOUR TASKS
TASK 1: READ YOUR MANUAL
Your manual has a wealth of information in it.
Directions
Read it & make notes.
TASK 2: ASANA ALIGNMENT CHECK EXERCISE
Children learn by copying what you do, not just through listening to what you say. Sometimes we may be making mistakes in the postures without realising it. It is important to check your own alignment in the key asanas we will be teaching kids.
Directions
1. Using the Avoid/Aim pages of your manual (pages 34-44), practice these either in front of a large mirror or with a video.
2. Check your alignment & make notes if you have any questions regarding alignment to take to your yoga teacher next time you’re at an in-person class (or refer to your manual also for guidance on alignment).
TASK 3: PARTNER YOGA EXERCISE
or the Extension Exercise
Partner Yoga is a great addition to Primary aged classes, Teens Classes & Family Yoga classes.
In Primary Aged & Family Yoga Classes you can use it as well as or instead of a game during the “Peak” part of your class plan. InTeensclasses you can also use it during the “Peak”, or alternatively leave it out (no games in Teens Yoga).
Directions
Practice the partner yoga poses outlined in your class handouts with an adult of child
2. Play around with partner poses until they feel like they are working. Have fun with them!
(Note: If you are unable to complete the Partner Yoga task you can supplement it with the Bonus Extension Exercise below)
TASK 4: VIDEO TRAININGS
Below are included 14 Supplementary Training Video for you to watch, practice teaching & make notes from.
Directions
1. Watch the videos (scroll below to see them).
2. Practice teaching each of the poses as many times as you wish, but at least once.
3. Make any notes of teaching & alignment cues you need to help you teach these asanas in the future.
TASK 5: EXTENSION EXERCISE (OPTIONAL):
CREATE A PRIMARY AGED CLASS PLAN
If you want to extend yourself, or if you cant complete the Partner Yoga Task right now, then this extra task is for you :-)
Directions
- Create a Primary Aged Class Plan by using the 8 Part Structure listed on page …… of your manual.
- Use simple dot points to outline what you will do in each section of the class, based on the examples given in the Level 1 Training.
- You don't need to write out everything you will say, just list what you will be doing.
- You can use what you did in the asana sequencing section of the training as a basis for this.
